I sometimes wonder if Google is trying to alienate its users.
If I use Internet Explorer to check something online, I am immediately greeted with "Come here often? Make Google your homepage." There are two buttons I am allowed to click: "Sure" and "No thanks". I wish there could be a third button which says, "Google is already my homepage, you dipsticks!"
Also on the Google homepage, there is a box proclaiming, "A faster way to browse the web", and a clickable button suggesting, "Install Google Chrome". Again, there is no optional button which says, "(Sigh), I installed Google Chrome ages ago!"
I notice the Google people still have not trashed that stupid barrel roll trick. I am trying to research information for an article comparing American and Asian eating habits. I type into Google, "Do Americans eat rice?", and then I am treated to a time-wasting distraction which is apparently the screen trying to mimic a barrel roll. To avoid it, I have to turn off "instant search". Unfortunately, Google switches the instant search back on again when I close my browser. Hey, Google, the joke is stale now. How much longer are you going to let your meme run?
Perhaps it is time to choose a new favourite search engine. Hmmm... bing or blekko. Decisions, decisions...
